THE STORY OF KIRI®
Kiri® made its debut on the shelves in the form of little individual portions. Thanks to its unique and creamy taste, it quickly became the dairy delight for both young and old gourmets.
Kiri®'s creaminess hit the small screen with its first commercial featuring the legendary slogan "little gourmets in short pants." A phrase that remains etched in the memory of an entire generation of little food lovers.
In the '80s, Kiri® became an essential reference and won over children across the globe. After Europe, the square portion ventured into the Middle East and Asia, where its soft and creamy taste charmed new consumers. The brand adapted to local preferences to meet the specific expectations of each market.
Bel Cheese innovated with new formats, introducing Kiri Goûter®, a small tray filled with tender wheat crispy sticks to joyfully dip into creamy Kiri® cheese. Now kids could take their favorite cheese everywhere!
Kiri® is evolving its recipes with fewer additives and more natural ingredients. The brand is also offering organic versions and is reinforcing its commitments to more responsible production.
KIRI® IN ACTION
HEALTHY AND NATURAL RECIPE
At Kiri®, we focus on the essentials: quality French dairy ingredients for a fresh and delicious taste. Our simplified recipe favors the natural. What's in your Kiri®? Freshly collected French milk from the farm every 48 hours. A creamy 100% French delight that gives it that unforgettable melt-in-your-mouth texture. Natural lactic cultures that create Kiri®’s unique texture and flavor.
RESPECTFUL DAIRY SUPPLY CHAIN
Our charter for a sustainable dairy supply chain paves the way. Since 2018, we have rethought our farming approach. Our cows enjoy grazing whenever conditions allow. Their diet is kept local and completely excludes GMOs. Partnership builds strength. Bel and the Association of Bel West Milk Producers (APBO) join forces to transform the dairy industry toward a more equitable and responsible agri-food model.
CARBON REDUCTION PATHWAY
Day by day, our cheese dairies are transforming through the continuous optimization of our energy performance, enabling us to reduce consumption while significantly boosting our efficiency. The energy transition is making great strides across all our production sites with renewable energies taking the lead. We guide our partner farmers towards practices that reduce and capture carbon.
SUSTAINABLE PACKAGING
Since 2018, we have been honoring our environmental promise by progressively transforming all our packaging to minimize its ecological footprint. Every innovation we develop aims to combat ocean plastic pollution and actively fight deforestation. Initial tests of the paper-based Kiri® portion are underway to ensure that consumers are ready to accept this change.
GOT QUESTIONS?
Some of your portions are packaged in aluminum. Isn’t this dangerous for health?
At Bel, we use aluminum to protect some of the cheeses we produce, such as The Laughing Cow®, Kiri®, Apéricube®, and Boursin®. Aluminum preserves our cheeses from drying out, light oxidation, impurities, and microorganisms. The aluminum we use is food-grade and suitable for food contact. Compliance with food contact standards is strictly regulated by European law.
The Kiri® paper wrapper? It's coming!
Get ready! The new Kiri® paper packaging is set to launch in France between 2026 and 2027. This new paper wrapper took years to develop, all to guarantee the product quality you love: the same great taste, nutritional value, food safety, and strength. Plus, we've added a bonus: it’s even easier to open, especially for kids! Right now, it's still in the testing phase. A production line at our factory in Sablé-sur-Sarthe (where all of France's Kiri® is made) is already equipped to produce these new paper portions. The first major consumer tests will roll out during 2025, mainly to ensure our fans are ready and excited for the switch!
