THE STORY OF BABYBEL®
Babybel® was born in 1931 and made its official mark in 1934. After World War II, this little cheese captured hearts everywhere! Its charm lies in its perfectly round shape and iconic bright red wax coating, inspired by Edam. This packaging genius not only ensures impeccable preservation but also guarantees freshness while being super convenient to carry anywhere.
Babybel® became available throughout France starting in 1952. French dietary habits were undergoing a revolution: strong cheeses were out! Consumers flocked to self-service shelves, and for the first time, children began to assert their own tastes, quite different from their parents'!
The Babybel® family grew with the arrival of its little sibling: Mini Babybel®. This fun and ultra-convenient cheese won hearts in record time! Such success propelled it to the United States in 1979. The range expanded with new flavors, introducing Emmental in 1998, a delightful goat cheese variant in 2006, followed by Gouda and Mini Caractère in 2013.
Now available in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom, Babybel®'s plant-based version confirms the strong potential of plant-based alternatives.

With 18% more protein and 33% less fat than Babybel® Original, each 22g portion contains 5.7g of protein naturally sourced from milk. I've always wondered what Babybel® packaging is made of?
The wax used for Babybel®'s coating is a blend of paraffin and microcrystalline waxes with a natural dye. Its "food contact" quality meets very strict standards set by regulations. If you accidentally swallow it, no need to worry—it poses no health risk.

We created this new product because we're always listening to our customers and noticed a growing demand for protein-rich products. Babybel® Protein is made with simple ingredients: 98% milk (100% from France), cheese cultures, and salt. With 18% more protein and 33% less fat than Original Babybel®, each 22g serving provides 5.7g of protein that comes naturally from the milk.
Why is calcium so important for children's growth ?
In France, 67% of children get less calcium than the recommended amount. Yet, it's essential for their growth: calcium helps with bone mineralization, which allows their skeleton to develop properly. It's also vital for building the bone mass they will need as adults.
