Discover The Laughing Cow®

The adventures of La Vache Qui Rit (The Laughing Cow)® began in 1921 in the Jura region. It launched a revolution because this product marked the arrival on the market of the first processed cheese packaged in individual portions. Nothing like it had ever been seen before. In 1926, the inventor of this cheese, Léon Bel, ordered the construction of a factory that could process up to 20 tons of cheese per day! The groundwork for success had been put in place.

A series of victories !
A few short years after its creation, La Vache Qui Rit®, spurred on by its triumph in France, set out to conquer other continents. Today it is sold in 120 countries!

The red cow invaded the United Kingdom in 1929 to create a subsidiary in Southampton. It then moved on to Belgium (1933), Denmark (1953), Germany (1959), Spain (1965), the Netherlands (1967) and Greece (2002)… It crossed the Mediterranean in 1974 with the opening of its first subsidiary in Morocco. The brand continued to grow. Indeed, today it can be found all over the planet: Asia, Africa, the United States and Australia!
Ten million servings of La Vache Qui Rit® are enjoyed every day. If you stacked up all those little triangles, it would amount to 500 Eiffel Towers!

Its excellent conservation properties and highly practical individual portions are two of the major reasons—in addition to its creamy flavor—why the brand has been so successful internationally.

La Vache Qui Rit® is able to meet the various expectations of consumers around the world. For example, there is a ham flavor that serves as a dietary supplement in regions where milk is consumed in smaller quantities. It also compensates for chronic vitamin D deficiencies in the countries of the Middle East thanks to a specially adapted version that is also calcium enriched. Meanwhile, the light version is hugely popular in the United States…
Moreover, it has engendered derivative products such as Ma P’tite Vache Qui Rit®, Pik & Croq’® and Toastinette® to delight young and old alike !
To ensure it is understood by all, La Vache Qui Rit® speaks dozens of languages: It is known as "The Laughing Cow"® in the United Kingdom and the United States, "Die Lachende Kuh"® in Germany and Austria, "Vesela Krava"® in the Czech Republic, "Krowka Smieska"® in Poland, "La Vaca Que Rié"® in Spain, "A Vaca Que Ri"® in Portugal, "Con Bo Cuoi"® in Vietnam, "Vessiolaia Bourionka"® in Russia, and so on.
