By the end of the 1960's, Fromageries Bel had already established a formidable reputation. Ever conscious of remaining in touch with the times and planning for future developments, the company would soon introduce the first cheese crafted specially for children...
Who will get the last laugh? Kiri of course !
Kiri is the result of several years of research spent seeking a cheese whose taste and texture are perfectly suited to a child's palate. It was born in 1966 in Sablé (Sarthe region).
The 1970's witnessed an advertising boom for Kiri, which became the cheese of choice for so-called "epicureans in shorts" and an ideal option for children's diets.
Kiri also set out to win over food lovers by organizing giant afternoon snack events in the major cities of France.
The 1980's saw the emergence of a new wave of fans of the yummy little squares : newly available for export, the cheese conquered young gourmets around the world in places like Europe, the Middle East and even Japan !
The Kiri brand is decidedly and constantly on the cutting edge, for at the time it gave these little epicureans the opportunity to record their first record--and that was long before reality television hit our screens! Kiri has always bet on innovation in the cheese industry.
The 1990's were a decade characterized by novelty! Two new versions of Kiri were introduced :
- Kiri Poche (a predecessor of Kiri Golo), a small pod filled with delicious Kiri that's practical and easy to take anywhere
- Kiri Goûter, a small tray filled with crispy bread sticks to dip in Kiri cheese
More than ever, the history of Kiri is marked with textbook success stories. Kiri is synonymous with more than 40 years at the top: each year, 1.5 billion servings are sold throughout the world, or enough to go around the world one and a half times ! It is the dairy star in the agri-food business !
